Manitoulin Island and the Cup and Saucer TrailStudents will wake by 8 AM for a Mountain Man Breakfast, a mix of eggs, sausage and cheese. We will take down camp and depart Lake Lauzon for Manitoulin Island by 9 AM. After and hour and a half, we will reach the Little Swing Bridge connecting Manitoulin Island to mainland Ontario. Once we have crossed the bridge onto Manitoulin, we will head west to visit the Cup and Saucer Trail.
Arriving around 11 AM, we will be hiking across the Cup and Saucer Trail, a trail leading up a particularly scenic section of the Niagara Escarpment. We will be bringing the ingredients to make PB & J Tortillas, which we will be eating at the top of the Escarpment at approximately 12:30 PM before heading back down the trail, arriving back at the car at or before 2 PM. Afterwards we will take the 30 minute drive to Gordon's Park, further south on the Island. There we will set up camp, before heading south at 4 PM to visit the town of South Baymouth, a small village at the south point of Manitoulin Island. We will return to Gordon's by 6 PM, eating Lasagna for dinner. At 9 PM, Gordon's Park will be putting on an Astronomy Night program for us, bringing out a telescope and trained professional to show us the cosmos under some of the most undisturbed skies in all of the Midwest. |
